You might not think about or even remember, but lots of medications and supplements contain gluten. Make sure your pharmacy has it noted in your records. You really have to do your research. Some starch and modified food starches contain gluten. Not sure? Check out the manufactures website. Give them a call, a lot of them will send you a list of their GF items. Unfortunatly as a person with Celiacs you have to question everything you put in your mouth. Ok, enough of being Debbie Downer. Don’t forget to take your vitamins & read those labels. Eat happy!
Cool as a Cucumber
Cucumbers are high in vitamin K. K helps with bone strength. The peel is a great source of dietary fiber & works as a mild diuretic. Helps eliminate toxic stuff in your gut. Cucumbers are low in sodium and are a great source of potassium. Do your heart good, eats some cukes.

Diagnosis
Getting diagnosed can be the hardest part of Celiacs. Because of the wide range of symptoms. While I have always had a sensitive tummy, it wasn’t till I was in my 40’s that it kicked in. It’s a genetic defect so something as little as a viral infection can turn the gene on. Malabsorption of nutrients start happening. Iron, calcium and folate are just a few nutrients that your body will be missing. Think you have it? Get those blood test done. Eat right & exercise and your body and tummy will thank you.
Pancake Sunday
Sunday morning goodness! Grew up on Sunday morning pancakes. Mom always used Bisquick Mix. Luckily they make a gluten free version these days. Don’t make them very often, so it’s a nice treat. Someone ate the blueberries, but he’s forgiven. 😜
Glutenese
Reading product labels can be tricky. Many processed foods have ingredients that you’ve never heard of. Greats news is in no time you’ll become a pro. I use to carry around a notecard that had all the “good stuff” I could eat. Love Gluten Free for Dummies. Great resource. Booze you can use, recipes & menu ideas. It’s become more important (at least to me) that you eat organic as much as you can. Hey, labels are really easy when it’s organic. Take care & eat your veggies!
Celiacs
Did you know that Celiacs disease was originally thought to be a rare disorder. Now it’s one of the most common inherited diseases, affecting approximately 1% of the population Celiac disease not only effects the gastrointestinal system but many other systems in the body. Other autoimmune disorders: thyroid disease, liver disease just to name a few.

Food Groove
Living with Celiacs for the past 8 years has taught me a lot about food. Seems no matter how careful you think you’ve been, it’s happens. You get sick. It’s a bummer and geez I’m tired of it. I get it and lesson learned. On the flip side, I’m very thankful! Thankful that because of my Celiacs, I eat better than I ever have. Ok, most of the time I eat better. I’m healthier because of it in many ways. Find your food groove and make it happen!
